  • 45ml Scotch whisky
  • 15ml Drambuie

Instructions

  1. Add both ingredients into a mixing glass with ice.

  2. Stir until chilled.

  3. Strain into a rocks glass with ice.

  1. The oldest mention of this cocktail is from 1937, for the British Industries Fair Show, under a different name.

  2. The Rusty Nail did not become popular until it was introduced to the US in the 1960s, where it was served mainly in New Orleans and New York.

  3. Around this time, the bartenders at the 21 Club in Manhattan, which created the B&B (equal parts Bénédictine and Cognac) are credited with naming the Rusty Nail.

  4. The Rusty Nail was a favorite of the Rat Pack in the 1970s. The Rat Pack was a group that consisted of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Sammy Davis Jr. and Peter Lawford, amongst others.
