Russian Spring Punch

Ingredients

  • 45ml vodka
  • 15ml crème de cassis
  • 22.5ml lemon juice
  • 15ml simple syrup
  • 60ml Champagne, for topping off

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients except for the sparkling wine into a shaker with ice.

  2. Shake until chilled.

  3. Strain into a highball glass with ice.

  4. Top with sparkling wine.

  5. Garnish with a lemon wheel and seasonal berries.

Hints

  1. Feel free to substitute the crème de cassis for your favorite berry liqueur (Chambord, crème de mûre or framboise, etc), or even do a split base.

  2. Likewise, this cocktail works with your favorite sparkling wine: Champagne, prosecco or cava.

  1. Created in the 1980s by Dick Bradsell in London, England. Per Bradsell, he created the drink for a couple of friends as a variation of a Kir Royale.

  2. The name of the cocktail derives from the fact it is using vodka as the main spirit, and that the drink is a Collins or a fizz, which is usually drunk in the spring.
