Hints

  1. The original version of the Mudslide did not have heavy cream. In fact, that's how the drink was created: It's a White Russian but with Irish cream instead of the heavy cream. If you omit the cream, serve this in a lowball with ice.

  2. If you want to turn this into a milkshake, replace the heavy cream for a scoop of vanilla ice cream, add ½ cup of ice, and blend it until smooth.

  3. Some people like replacing the vodka for brandy in this recipe.

Trivia

  1. The Mudslide was created at Wreck Bar in Rum Point Club on Grand Cayman Island in the 1970s. As the story goes, it was created when the bartender was asked for a White Russian, but didn't have heavy cream on hand, so he used Irish cream instead.
