Gold Rush

Gold Rush

  • 60ml bourbon
  • 22.5ml lemon juice
  • 22.5ml honey syrup
No. of Servings:

  1. Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice.

  2. Shake until chilled.

  3. Strain into a rocks glass with ice.

  1. Consider adding a grapefruit peel into the shaker before shaking the cocktail (a regal shake). Grapefruit is great at reigning back the sweetness from the honey, and the oils from the peel will impart a subtle flavor which will elevate the drink.

  2. Honey syrup is used instead of honey because the latter will want to crystallize and stick to your shaker as soon as you add ice. Honey syrup is very easy to make, and it will make your life a lot easier. You can use honey syrup in other things besides cocktails – in your tea, or in your cereal, for example.

  1. Created by T.J. Siegal, a close friend to Sasha Petraske, who in turn owned the famous bar Milk & Honey in New York, USA.

  2. The cocktail was created sometime in 2000, when Siegal asked for a Bourbon Sour using the honey syrup Petraske had been working on for a different recipe.
